In the history of Wood Industry in Nigeria, there is no common front that can articulate, transform and warehoused the uninformed practitioners. This sector was constituted with highly inefficient, wasteful, unethical practices and unorganized. This has caused a lot drain in the economy and forest welfare. There is a little understanding of what Sustainable Forest Management meant. Like minds come together to form a common front but the more active we were, the more numerous were the challenges. Until 2014 when those crusaders of "do the right thing" came together with one voice to form an Association with vision to transform the wood industry in Nigeria from logging, processing, track-able transit of logs , Due Diligent compliance and export in line with global best practices. And our top secret is to capsize all mushroom association into this mainstream for effective and efficient coordination, monitor and control. In our struggle to achieve this feet we were confronted with different kind of challenges at different stage of our mission to transform this sector of Nigeria economy for better. But there are some beauty to it, the more challenges we confronted the more the opportunities that unfold for us to key in to global best practices the more we are driven closer to our destination. We are PROCESSED WOOD PRODUCERS AND MARKETERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (PROWPMAN) an association that will not relent on it effort to transit Nigeria timber trade into the new era of sustainable wood economy in line with Federal Government of Nigeria to sustainably diversify our economy.
