PROWPMAN tree planting project in Ogun State was an extensive one, it was started with ten hectares (10hectares) from degraded part of Olokemeji Forest Reserve, in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State. It was a full funfare as indigenous people of Olokemeji displayed high sense of hospitality and thrilled their visitors with an indigenous musicfrom a small groups local musicians and local delicacies as well.
Respecting the rights of forest dwellers is one of our core value and we are very committed to their welfare. Standard cooking stove was distributed to them to reduce the effect of cutting immature tree for fire wood. Hunters were also trained to abolish the Annual Fire Hunting Festival that always escalate into a serious disaster to the forest biodiversity and ecosphere.
As usual Federal Ministry of Enviroment was fully on ground as the representative of the Honorable Minister of Environment ( Hajia Amina J Mohamed) Mr Philip Bankole former Director of Forestry of the Federation and his crews are present at the flags off of this project. Also present are the Ogun State Commissioner for Forestry, Adamawa State Commissioner for Environment, Olokemeji High School student and teachers, PROWPMAN members across the six geographical zones, Chinese representatives and other foreign nationals.
